Harvesting timber is an integral part of forest management.  Although harvesting causes a temporary disturbance in the forest, the impact to soil and water quality can be minimized IF the proper guidelines are followed. In this section we will discuss aspects of planning and designing harvest operations, the benefits of having a good plan and various tools that are helpful for developing a harvest plan.
